Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Sheet Metal Fabricator skilled in laser cutting and CNC brake operations. The role involves performing laser cutting and sheet metal bending according to customer specifications.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in sheet metal manufacturing, laser operation, and CNC brake usage
- Training in general safety, electrostatic discharge awareness, and Foreign Object Damage (FOD)
- Familiar with CAD/CAM software
- In-depth understanding of various sheet metals, including stainless steel, aluminum, and other alloys, and how their properties affect the fabrication process
- Exceptional attention to detail to ensure precision in cutting and bending operations, as well as inspecting finished products
Preferred Qualifications:
- Relevant CNC Machine Operator or Sheet Metal Fabrication certifications
- Familiar with Mastercam CAD/CAM software
- Experience working within a Quality Management System (e.g., ISO 9001) to ensure that all products meet rigorous quality standards
Responsibilities:
- Perform laser cutting and sheet metal bending tasks
- Interpret customer drawings and select appropriate cutting programs and fixtures
- Ensure precise calibration and setup of laser and CNC brake machines to ensure consistent quality
- Work closely with Quality Control (QC) to continuously improve quality standards
- Conduct dimensional inspections and report non-conformances
- Participate in root cause analysis for recurring quality issues and recommend corrective actions
- Complete and document necessary maintenance on equipment
- Engage in cross-training with other fabricators to ensure versatility in operating different machines or processes within the shop
- Stay up to date on the latest fabrication techniques, tools, and technologies
- Utilize shop floor data collection systems to accurately log work performed, machine usage, and time tracking
- Analyze production data to identify trends and areas for improvement
- Adhere to Environmental, Health and Safety policies, 5S principles, and company policies
- Occasionally assist in customer visits or audits to explain the fabrication process and demonstrate capabilities
- Monitor and manage the inventory of materials and consumables required for operations
- Monitor and control the use of materials to minimize waste and reduce costs
- Coordinate with the Purchasing Department to ensure timely replenishment of stock
- Maintain workstation cleanliness and adhere to safety protocols
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to lift 45 lbs
- May be required to stand for extended periods
- Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, as needed
- Specific vision abilities required, including close vision, distance vision, color vision, and depth perception
Work Environment:
The position is based in a shop environment with potential for extended hours and occasional travel.
