Job Overview:

We are seeking a CNC Machinist Level I to operate CNC machines using provided programs and qualified setups. The role involves performing setups under supervision, adjusting tool values, and replacing and qualifying tooling as needed. Level I Machinists will inspect part features, ensure quality control, and complete required data collection as directed by the work order.

Minimum Qualifications:   

  • High School/GED Diploma.
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in CNC operation (professional coursework, apprenticeships and internships accepted)
  • Training in general safety and Foreign Object Damage (FOD)
  • Familiar with CAD/CAM software
  • Possesses good listening and communication skills
  • Possesses basic problem solving and inspection skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Relevant CNC Machine Operator certifications
  • Experience working within a Quality Management System (e.g., ISO 9001) 
  • Owns personal measuring, inspection, hand, cutting and setup tools

Responsibilities

  • Operate CNC equipment at a basic level
  • Perform set-ups under the supervision of Level II or III Machinists or Shop Supervisor
  • Read and understand drawings and tool specifications
  • Use typical manual inspection tools
  • Conduct inspections of work product
  • Monitor and manage the inventory of materials and consumables required for operations
  • Comply with all data collection activities and documentation 
  • Report all non-conformances to the Shop Supervisor
  • Utilize shop floor data collection systems to accurately log work performed, machine usage, and time tracking
  • Perform basic preventive maintenance of CNC Machine and equipment 
  • Adhere to Environmental, Health and Safety policies, company safety and quality standards
  • Work closely with Quality Control (QC) to continuously improve quality standards
  • Maintain clean workspace 

Physical Demands: 

  • Able to lift 45 lbs
  • Able to stand for extended periods
  • Able to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, as needed
  • Specific vision abilities required, including close vision, distance vision, color vision, and depth perception

Work Environment: 

A CNC machine shop environment is a fast-paced, precision-driven setting. Employees work in a climate-controlled facility with frequent standing and handling of metal parts and tools. Noise levels are moderate to high, requiring safety equipment, including hearing protection. The position has the potential for extended hours and occasional travel.
